When we are old enough, we are taken outside to the puppy play pen located outside the kitchen area.  It is under an old Florida Camphor tree with plenty of shade and a cool breeze.  There is a bamboo wind chime that  plays pretty sounds in the breeze and orchids hang in the tree.  

Our area is made of  3' high black vinyl coated chain link so we don't get hurt and is a big 16' x 20' in size.  It also has a wooden floor (6' wide x 16' long) where they eat, sleep and play.  The rest of the pen is covered in wood shavings for them to run and play with plenty of  toys. They also have pipes to run through and play hide and seek with each other. 

There are also  lights on the top rail for night time security. 

The pups get to see the three Quarter horses in the pasture and the big dogs that run loose.  Of course there are always lots of people to socialize them becuase they just can't resist!
